Top Poker Sites for Satellites

I have used satellite poker tournaments to qualify into the largest online poker tournaments for several years. There is also some huge success stories (Like Chris Moneymaker) of poker players who have satellited into live poker events and turned a buy-in of just a few dollars into millions.

These are my highest recommended poker sites for satellite tournaments. If you are trying to qualify into a live poker event or just a large online poker tournament, these sites are a great place to play poker.

Of course, Party Poker and Pokerstars have made the list. They seem to make it onto virtually every list of poker sites that I have put together here on my website... this is just because these are the largest poker sites out there and when it comes to just about any subject, they are on top of the game.

However, poker sites like Doyle's Room often will run great satellite tournament promotions in order to help conjure up business at their websites. This means that Doyle's Room, Players Only, and some of the other websites like Carbon Poker can be a great place to qualify for live poker tournaments through satellites.

Satellite Poker Tournament FAQ

What if I can't play in the poker tournament that I qualify for?

You will usually be allowed to exchange your tournament ticket for cash... sometimes the poker sites will take a little bit off of the top for making the exchange; but the answer is that you don't usually have to play in the poker tournaments that you qualify for if you don't want to. Sometimes satellite poker tournaments can just be a great way to increase your bankroll, even if you don't want to play in the tournament that the satellite will actually qualify your for.

Which poker rooms run the most poker satellite tournaments?

Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker typically will run the most satellites, especially for the WSOP, EPT and other large poker tours with $5K and $10K buy-ins.

Which poker room has the best satellite structures to qualify for online poker tournaments?

Pokerstars has more options for qualifying into large poker tournaments than any other site. There is a step-tournament system that will allow you to jump in or out of the satellite tournament climb at any point that you would like. The step satellite tournament system will go through several levels starting with a very small buy-in. You can start as low or as high in the step ladder as you want.
